Predictions of Armageddon in 2012

If you haven't heard of them yet, you surely will before the year gets here. Those 2012 armageddon prophecies that many people swear are going to happen. It stems from the Mayan times and their claims that on or near December 21, 2012 the world will end, or something will happen to change the world dramatically.

But when you ask some people, they say there is nothing stated in any of that history to point to this type of prophecy. There was a lot of Mayan information uncovered, but by far it's not understood fully. Most likely it will never completely be understood either.

But you know how things can seem to get blown out of proportion by the media and by everyone else. The History Channel had a story that they showed back in 2006 dealing with this prophecy. Some of the program was written by a science fiction writer, so who knows how much was actually true.

Some of these prophecies and doomsday ideas included storms that would hit the world with devastating force, as well as disruptions from volcanoes, earthquakes and even solar flares. They also include reference to the magnetic poles of the Earth switching positions.

But with so much of the Mayan history never really being fully understood, you just can't ever really know what the true case is. The best idea is to go on and live your life fully each and every day, no matter what may happen in 2012.

When you consider what the present day Maya think about the whole thing, you might be quite surprised. When asked about 2012 they generally state that they have no clue about it, especially since the long count calendar is not even used by them today. So what do you think? Is this simply something that makes a great story?

No matter how you view it, in the long run you need to think about this. Remember what happened at the end of 1999 when everyone thought computers would stop working. Did they?
